Since there aren't many photos of me with Parker, I decided to make one post dedicated to the rare instance that I'm in front of the camera instead of behind it. Here's a few photos of Parker and I hanging out and having some guy-time. We talked about sports in each of these photos.
Now that April is going to start getting bottles ready for Parker, daddy will be able to wake up in the middle of the night (perhaps multiple times) to feed him! Wait a minute..............
Parker and April had a trip to the doctor today to make sure everything was going fine (which it is) and to weigh him (which they did). Parker is almost a whopping 10 pounds! That's quite the departure from the little 6 pound guy who was born a month ago. I noticed tonight while he was laying in his crib that he's massive. Not Jabba-esque, but just taller and bigger. He might even be able to take me in a fight. Here's a photo of him being all grown-up and drinking from a bottle for the first time.
In the time that it took me to write that post, Parker totally fell asleep. Here he is, getting down with his bad self, in the swinging chair (which is swinging AND vibrating). How he can sleep in that is beyond me.
Today was the first time Parker wore real clothes, which was kind of funny. The pants were a bit too big but the shirt fit perfectly (thanks Kerry!). Right now Parker is hanging out his his swinging chair and he has the hiccups (which he has quite often). He has a doctor's appointment tomorrow where they'll probably weigh him (he's getting so much bigger). The other day at work April emailed me to say that he was smiling at her for the first time, which was really cool. It seemed like a reactionary smile instead of just a random smile, because he did it a few times when she was talking to him. It's fun to see him develop more and more each day. Here are photos of his wardrobe developing.
When Parker and daddy are bored, we have photoshoots. Parker works the camera like a seasoned veteran, displaying a range of emotion only the top models can obtain. Either that, or he has gas. Here is a link to a slideshow with Parker's latest portfolio:
Here's daddy's new father's day toy: ParkerCam 2007 courtesy of my new fisheye lens! April and Parker also surprised me with some funny cards (one from April, one from Parker -- he has surprisingly good penmanship for a 1-month old), some cool photography magazines, and other assorted goodies. I think today we're just going to lounge around and edit photos.
April and I always laugh every time Parker makes cute baby sounds, which seems to be quite often. He can be sleeping and he'll make these really funny cooing noises and sighing noises. I'm sure all babies sound this way (I don't normally hang around babies so this is just my assumption) but I'm convinced he sounds just like Gizmo from Gremlins. As long as we don't feed him after midnight I think we'll be safe.
And here's Parker sporting another new sleeper -- a stripey thing with airplanes on it. Very masculine, indeed, especially the footy things. To go with his new outfit, Parker broke out his "Blue Steel" look.
Parker gets hypnotized by the elephants and bears on his mobiles. He now has the ability to look up! He is evolving right before our eyes.
We also took him out for dinner the other night (which was pretty random and spur-of-the-moment) and he was really cool -- he slept through the whole thing! We left him in his car seat, bundled up with his favourite blanket, and we enjoyed some fine cuisine while he slept the afternoon away. Best baby ever!
Usually I'm at work all day so I miss out on all the adventures that Parker and Mommy have together, but tonight while we were watching a DVD I was able to get a cute photo of them together. This is what they do all day long when they're not fighting crime and solving murder mysteries:
April and I were both kind of surprised at how light Parker's hair and eyes are. I didn't know that almost all babies have blue eyes when they're born (at least that's what one of the nurses told me) and then they eventually change to their natural colour, but it's still weird to see such bright eyes, especially in photos! I fully expected him to have black hair (like me) and dark brown eyes (like me) and to be a giant nerd (like me). I guess there's still hope for the giant nerd...
Our internet service has been down for a few days and we haven't been able to make any updates, so here's a nice collection of new photos of Parker in all his manly glory. He's now almost up to a whopping 8 pounds!
Here he is sporting his latest monkey-riding-a-train attire (monkeys ride trains all the time):
Familiar sleepy Parker:
And here's Boba Fett, hot on the trail of a bounty I'm sure:
I went to Toronto for a few days and when I came back Parker was like a whole new baby! He has grown a lot, gained some weight, and now sleeps without being swaddled! He also had tears come out of his eyes for the first time (we think they're tears, anyways), and he makes new sounds as well. I spent the last few days taking photos of brides, so I'll take some new Parker photos tomorrow. Hopefully he does cool things for our photo shoot. When he's awake his eyes are much wider now (I think he can see better) so hopefully I won't have more sleeping photos.
Here's a blog to keep track of all our baby photos and stories as Parker grows up.
About Our Family
Hi. I'm a photographer and my wife is a teacher and our baby is still trying to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up. We started this blog so we could post different photos and stories about Parker that our friends and families could quickly access and comment on (if they want). He's growing up so fast that it's cool to document all of his different phases and make various Star Wars references to them. Hope you enjoy!
