What The Duck?!

Parker recommends What The Duck, a photography-based daily comic strip on the web.

(okay, so Parker didn't REALLY recommend it, but if he could read.....or speak.....or comprehend things that didn't involve funny sounds or faces.....he'd totally be into it)

Tummy Time Slideshow

And just because things are so much better with music:

Photo Glut

So here are a million photos from the past week, and I think they're pretty funny. I was saying to April earlier today that it's cool how active (and reactive) Parker is now. We can say stuff and do stuff and he totally recognizes it and responds, which lends itself to endless entertainment. He's super happy all the time, which is hilarious because he's ALWAYS smiling and giggling and stuff. Sometimes we tickle him and he makes a little bear growling noise instead of laughing, which is pretty funny too. Oh, and a while back I made a post saying we thought he was teething but weren't sure.....now we're sure. He's a drool machine, and he crams everything into his mouth so he can rub it on his gums. Anyways, on to the photos!

Sleepy time on Nana and Papa's back porch:

Modelling a new Nana hat:
Modelling another Nana hat:
Playing his favourite game ever with Mommy. We call it "1, 2, 3" but we really just kind of throw him up in the air on teh count of 3 and jiggle him around a bit.

Hanging out with Nana:

Yet more "1, 2, 3". Parker looooves it (thanks to Jodi for the cool clothes):

Here's Parker hanging out and having some tummy time. Interesting note about the phrase "tummy time": it's a thousand times more fun if you sing it to the tune of "Summer Time", the oldie by The Sha Na Nas, instead of just saying it like normal words.

Vacations

10 days without a new post? Scandalous. April, Parker and I were in Dresden for the week visiting my family, so I have a few photos that I'm going to post but we've been super busy so I haven't had time. Hopefully I can get some up tonight!

Phone Stalker

Today Parker was a phone stalker. It sounds worse than it is, really. He was talking and laughing and doing all sorts of funny (read: loud) things, so we called April's sister Claire and left a long message of baby rambling. It was extra funny for us because for some reason baby sounds over the phone freak Claire out. So now she has a long message of ultra-scary and intimidating baby cooing and giggling. Then we called April's mom. Then we called my parents (but he's always strangely quiet when we try to get him to talk to my parents). Anyways, it's funny to us. :)
Also, just because I'm nosey, I'm always wondering if anyone actually reads this, or how many people actually check it out. Feel free to say hi in the comments!

Cutest Baby Ever?

April and I always laugh when Parker sleeps because for some reason he always puts his arms up over his head and it looks really cute. Earlier this afternoon he fell asleep on the guest room bed so I took some quick photos of him in the position. April says he looks like me when I sleep! Except that I don't wear cute elephant socks. Check 'em out. Also, Parker had the most laughs ever today, which was hilarious. April was doing a silly dance and he couldn't stop laughing! Then I tried.......and he stopped laughing.

Car Seat Blues

For some reason Parker doesn't seem to like his car seat any more. He used to travel really well, mostly falling asleep as soon as we got to the end of our street, but now he always seems kind of grumpy and unhappy when he has to be strapped in. Weird. We're going to try to go for more drives and stuff so that I guess he can kind of get used to it again. Hopefully that helps! In the meantime, Parker continues to be very cute. He loosk more and more like a little boy every day, which is pretty funny. He's laughing a lot more and getting really good at reaching for things and controlling his arms and hands!

Social Butterfly

The last few days Parker has been a social butterfly. He has had 3 different visitors in 2 days! Here are some photos.

This is Natasha and Anderson. I've been taking photos of Anderson since before he was born, so it was cool to see him again now that he's all grown up! He can walk and talk and do all kinds of cool stuff (including saying, "please"! He's so polite).

Here's Parker and Jon Lau, who is back in Kingston for med school. It was great to see him again and catch up, and hopefully he can teach Parker how to do a wicked cross-over.

Here's Scott and Gemma, back in town after being in California for a few years! It's great to have them back because they're a lot of fun (and they volunteered to baby sit! Mwahahaha...)

Doppleganger

April found this photo of me as a baby on her computer earlier and she thinks Parker looks exactly like me when I was a baby (I think her mom thinks that, too, and I think my mom thinks that, too). I guess I KIND OF see the resemblance but Parker is definitely cuter. Thanks to my mom for scanning it and sending it to us!

More Fisheye Wackiness

Here is another fisheye photo (it's been a while) of Parker in a new outfit. He's getting so big so quickly that he's able to wear all kinds of new stuff (and thanks to everyone who got him such cool clothes)! It's also surprisingly cold out today, so April had him wearing a little jacket which looked kind of funny. Here's a photo.

Random Photo Day

I haven't seen April or Parker in a few days because I've been out of town shooting weddings, so here are a few random photos from before I left (I think the 28th or 29th).

More Photos

Here are some more photos of Parker being cute and stuff. It's hard to tell from the photos, but his eyes are definitely getting darker. Depending on the light, sometimes they look brown, other times they look green, and sometimes they look kind of grey. He's a chameleon (but luckily not this Chameleon):

Parker Recommends.......

Okay, so Parker prefers the Raffi version. But pigeons who play the accordion are pretty cool too. And just listen to that accent! Oh baby!

Poop Follow-Up

After another day of not pooping, April took Parker to the doctor today. He did a few things (I won't go into detail) and resolved the issue. Luckily the doctor said it wasn't anything to be very concerned about and that Parker is really healthy! So he went at the doctor's office and also on the ride home and all is well in Poopville. We also did laundry today.

The Poop Post

I suppose it was inevitable that I would eventually talk about poop on Parker's blog. Everyone knows that babies eat, sleep, and poop. For Parker, though, it's been about 8 days since he last did the deed! We're getting a bit concerned because that's a long time for a little guy to last without going. He's starting to get a bit grumpy (he had problems sleeping last night) and his stomach is getting kind of fat (although he's already kind of fat without any help from a full bowel). We gave him a tiny bit of sugar-water this afternoon because we read that it was supposed to help, so hopefully his diaper will go nuclear in the next little bit. If not, we'll take him to the doctor just to be sure everything is fine. Here's a photo of Parker being constipated.
Edited at 10:00 pm to add: Still no poop.

Turner & Hooch....& Parker?

If anyone has TBS, they probably know about "Turner & Hooch". Even if Tom Hanks wants the world to forget about it, TBS just won't let us -- they seem to show it every few weekends when they aren't busy showing a Steven Segal classic. I bring it up because, much like Hooch, Parker has been drooling a lot lately. He hasn't solved any crimes (yet), but we're pretty sure his teeth are coming in. If they're anything like mine, he'll need braces so hopefully he has April's teeth!
(I especially like how surly Tom Hanks is in that poster)

Birthmarks and Comfy chairs

Check it out -- Parker has a red birth mark on the second toe of his right foot:

And Parker got a new chair the other day! It's called Bumbo, and it's made out of this cool foamy stuff. So far he seems to like it. This photo cracks me up for some reason. He's just hanging out, relaxing in his chair, wondering why he doesn't have a neck:

And here are some photos of him laughing while in his chair:

Parker Loves To Play

Here are some photos of Parker playing this morning. He's a pretty happy baby!

Good Morning From Parker

These photos were taken at 6:30 am this morning! Parker woke up early so we got up and played with Sheepy and his friends. And I noticed that Parker's sleeper has a dog piloting an aircraft. He's starting to reach and grab things more with his hands, which is fun to watch. The leaf that he has in his hand makes a crinkly paper sound when he messes with it.

Animals + Vehicles

Parker has gone from his monkey-driving-a-train suit to this turtle-riding-a-surfboard t-shirt. Here are a few more photos from our crazy play time today. April went out for lunch so it was just da boyz kickin' it. Yes, I just wrote that.

Shoes?

These are my new shoes. They’re good shoes. They won’t make you rich like me, they won’t make you rebound like me, they definitely won’t make you handsome like me. They’ll only make you have shoes like me. That’s it.
