These Boots Are Made For Walkin'

I wish Blogger would upload things chronologically for me. I'm sure there's a way to do it but I just can't seem to figure it out. Anyways, here's a whole bunch of new photos of Parker doing stuff since it's been a while since I have updated the blog! Parker is totally a little boy now. There is no going back.

Today he had his first bite of Mommy's peanut butter and jelly sammich. There is so much paranoia about peanut allergy that we held off on peanut butter until now (almost 14 months). Luckily he didn't seem to have any reactions, but we're still going to hold off on lots of peanut butter for now. Here he is pre-sammich:

And here he is post-sammich. Mmmmmm....

"Little boy in a giant chair!"

Tonight we also let Parker try eating with utensils like a civilized human being. I bought a little plastic fork and spoon at the store the other day, so we cooked up some nice salmon, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes for him to try. He was a cutlery master! He snatched the fork from my hand and fed himself right away! And then he tried to stick mushrooms on the fork with his off-hand, but that didn't work very well. So as long as I loaded up the fork, he was good to go.

Here he is hiding in the closet, thinking he's all sneaky and ninja-like. I caught him, though.

Hanging out by the gate. I just noticed today that he's almost as tall as the gate, which is crazy! I could probably go back through the archives and find photos of him standing up against it where he's just a little boy.

Parker loves pointing at me. And the gate. And the wall. And the light. And the radio. And the patio door.

Mommy entered the room and Parker almost had an aneurysm because he loves her so much!

Parker reading some books with some CRAZY bed head going on. Hopefully we can get his hair cut this week!

Haha! This was him picking up the duck and going, "CACK CACK!!!!!!" So funny.

April picked up a new book for him the other day that has all of these animal parts that you can touch. Parker's favourite is the tree frog because the pads of its feet are all sticky.

BREAD!

Once again, I caught Parker trying to hide and he thinks it's so funny.

And best of all, Parker officially knows how to walk now! Hooray! We noticed he was getting better at taking little baby steps so we brought him out to the front lawn so I could take a bunch of rapid-fire photos of him trying to walk! Here's the slideshow:

Then, after April and Parker came home from the grocery store, she set him down in the front hallway so he was just standing there (he's really good at balancing in one place). She walked to the kitchen, turned around and said, "Come on, Parker!" and he pretty much followed her. And a few times later on in the afternoon he was strolling around the living room, just hanging out, no big deal. So now he can officially walk! Yay!

He's also getting better at words. It's funny because he seems to say things when April prompts him. The week or so ago she was feeding him and she said, "Say please!" so Parker went, "PLEASE!!!" And then the other day she said, "Say juice!" so Parker said, "JUICE!!!" It's funny because he says words so.....hard.

Canada Day And Other Shenanigans (Like Adult Food!)

Here's a sequence of Parker eating a giant slice of watermelon. Mmmmm...

And here's Parker at the Canada Day parade in Bath sporting his hat and a fresh coating of sunscreen.

One of our favourite phrases: "Hat stays on!"

Guns are loud and scary for babies!

Bagpipes are loud and scary for babies!

Parker is a walking machine! It must be the Diego Crocs.

Parker and Mommy relaxing in the shade.

We ran into the Fukalas and Anderson took a minute to play with Parker (although Parker isn't that great at playing with other little boys yet.....but soon!)

And here's Parker having one of his first big grown-up meals! Spaghetti and meatballs! Yum yum!

Post-spaghetti and meatballs! Parker looks pleased. Pleased, indeed.

Time for a haircut?

More Fisheye Photos

Parker thinks Daddy needs a new TV.

Us at the grocery store. Hooray for canned goods!

Parker really likes eating bananas. I think it's because he likes to use his teeth to bite things.

This photo makes me laugh because he has a mouthful of banana, and it looks like he's about to giggle and spit it all out. Luckily he didn't do that.

And here are two photos from Kellen's visit (not fisheye, but wide-angle)!

Where's Parker?

Parker looooves a rousing game of "Where's Parker?". If you say that to him, he'll play peek-a-boo with a big grin on his face. Today, though, he figured out that he can actually hide himself.

In the closet.

He has been opening and closing the mirrored closet doors in the front hallway for a few months but today for some reason, he just stepped inside and started closing the doors on himself. He seemed to be having fun, and we were cracking up.

Sick Bear And Some Old Photos

The last few days Parker has been sick! We kind of think it's tooth-related (his eye-teeth seem to be coming in) but aren't 100% sure. He's been a total grumpus maximus since Thursday, and he's had a high fever on and off (plus he's really congested). Hopefully he's better by the end of the weekend! He's getting better at doing things, though -- he can climb up the stairs really quickly without any help, he really enjoys taking things off shelves and then putting them back on (future neat freak?), and his vocabulary consists of cheese, tree, up, Ming Ming, Mama (still no Dada), go go, bum bum, please, door, clock, book, ball, and car. And he's good at pointing to stuff too. Lately he's been pointing to his crib when he gets really tired (and he's been pretty lethargic the last few days) and it's the cutest thing ever. April tries to read him a little book, but instead he points to the crib as if to say, "Put me in there because I'm tired and that's where I go, Mommy."

April is officially off work for the summer, so that's exciting! Hopefully we can do lots of fun stuff this summer!

And Movies In The Square have started again, so hopefully we can check a few out.

In the meantime, here are some photos from some less sickly days, earlier in the week.

Mommy and Parker, the Karaoke Kid! He needs a hair cut!

This was taken yesterday before his nap. He was pretty hot and tired and his teeth were hurting, so I have him some ice cubes to suck on. He doesn't look very pleased.

But seconds later, he did this! "Oooooo! Waaaaooooooo!"

But seconds after that he did this. :( "I'm sick daddy, don't take my photo!"

Here he is a few days ago, pre-sickness, jamming on the awesome xylophone that Scott and Gemma got him for his birthday! So far we know how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, When The Saints Go Marching In, the Star Wars theme, and the theme from Love Boat.

Parker was playing with his stacking blocks, and he was dangling them behind his head and dropping them! Weirdo.

Parker opening the drawer to Mommy's china! He knows he's not supposed to do that, so when I caught him with a photo he was like, "What? What is it? Is something wrong? Do I have something on my face?"

Eating lunch.

Here's Parker goofing around with a half-filled Dasani bottle! Haha! Best toy ever?
