Rocking Out To Splash 'N Boots

Here's a video I made while Parker and I were eating dinner the other night. He really likes the song "Hello" by Splash 'N Boots and he hadn't heard it for a while so I was hoping he'd totally rock out when he heard it. And he did. I set the camera up during the first track, "This Is Our Home", hoping he'd forget about it by the time the second song came on and he did! Here he is, singing and dancing a bit to a song about Canada, and then really givin'er to "Hello". I think this might be the loudest I've ever heard him sing, too (usually he's pretty quiet).

The video was so big I couldn't upload it directly through Blogger, so I had to make it a YouTube video instead. New frontiers!

Mmmmm....

Parker really likes peanut butter and jam sandwiches (which he calls peanutbutterjam sammich). Here he is modeling a delicious version from the other day. Surprisingly, he kept the sandwich together for the photo op. He likes to pull them apart and eat the jam side first.

Many Faces Of Parker

Here are some photos from a play date the other day featuring a few of Parker's many faces. He can be pretty expressive and I think he's super funny. I like it when he counts down to making a funny face by going, "3....2....1...!"
Today during lunch (we were down town so we went to Silver Wok for their delicious lunch buffet), he said, "Can I have another soup please, Daddy?" His speech is really improving! And his manners are nice, too! He ate two bowls of won ton soup jam packed with noodles!

Parker Recommends.....

"Knights of Cydonia" by Muse. When we eat lunch I usually play music and he really seems to love this song. We do air guitar and hand motions and all kinds of crazy stuff while we sing along.

Edited to add: No, this is not soft-core pr0n. They're both wearing pants and it's just one tiny section from an awesome video featuring futuristic women on unicorns, cowboys with laser guns, and random kung-fu fighting moves.

Playdate With Friends!

Last week, Kristyne and Gabriel invited us and Lisa and Andrew over for a play date! We hadn't seen them in forever (except for that one time when we ran into them at Chapters randomly) so we were definitely up for it! Here are some photos:

Parker on his way to the car, looking unimpressed by my insistence that I take a photo in the cold.
Gabriel driving a truck around Parker's shoulder.
And down his back. Parker seems un-phased.
Arrrrrr! Pirate Gabriel!
It was a camera themed day! Here's Gabriel taking a photo of Parker with his little clown camera. When he pushes the button, the lens pops open and a clown comes out! I wish my camera did that.
"Cheeeeeeeeeese!"
Andrew eating some delicious muffins.

A very serious little boy.
........who might want to fight me.
Examining the muffin carefully.
Eating the muffin just as carefully. He takes the tiniest bites of things! It's funny.
Om nom nom nom....

Playing with the alphabet puzzle.
Thanks again for having us over! We had a great time! And I learned that golf can also be called zoof.

Big Boy Bed!

We made the switch to a big boy bed! We put everything together in front of him, so he saw take his crib apart (which we told him was for baby brother or baby sister) and he helped us put his new furniture together. Any by "help" I mean he jumped on us while we tried to build it. We made a big deal about how exciting the big boy bed was, and how comfy and warm and soft it was, and he seemed to be really into it. Luckily he didn't nap that afternoon, so he was super tired by 6 pm, and we put him in his bed and told him he had to stay there and go to sleep. Luckily he did! He had an awesome sleep, and called us in the next morning to come and get him. Here's a photo that he requested of "Baby", his favourite stuffed animal that goes to bed with him:

And here he is climbing into his new bed for the first night! He's so tiny! There's also a mirror on the dresser on the right, but we were too lazy to install it on that first day but it's up now.
"Big boy bed! Yaaaaay!"
I was really nervous that he wouldn't nap because he could just get up and roam the house. But he napped on Monday without any problems. On Tuesday he got up and I heard him through the monitor. So when I went up to see him he was waiting at the top of the stairs and clapped when he saw me. :D I told him he had to stay in bed and go right to sleep and he did! Yay! The only other obstacle that we've encountered so far is that he can stand on his bed and look out the window. One of the days last week I found him behind the shade, watching the boom boom doing construction. I told him he wasn't allowed to watch it and he had to go to sleep, and he did! Haha! Best toddler ever. So far so good with the big boy furniture!

No More Crib!

We finally took the plunge and decided it was time for Parker to switch from his crib to a big boy bed. We've been talking about it with him for the last few weeks and he seemed to be really interested, so we figured we'd just go for it and see what happens. Here he is brushing his teeth before bed...

In his crib for the laaaaaaast time! January 30th, 2010! Crazy!

At The Car Wash

Today I took Parker to the car wash at Canadian Tire because our car was filthy. When we were finished, I asked him what he thought about it and his reply was, "The car wash is a little bit weird, Daddy."

Construction

Parker is really into construction and large vehicles and he calls them all Boom Booms because of the sound they make. There's a lot of blasting in our neighbourhood because of all the rock, and the scooper things are always smashing and dumping boulders everywhere. So we've started eating our meals at the dining room table instead of the kitchen because the Boom Booms are practically in our back yard!

Calmly eating some cereal.
Om nom nom nom...
Wait, what's that?
"AHHHHH!!!!! It's a Boom Boom, Daddy!!!!"
He looks pleased with the construction.
Here's a zoomed in view of the scooper thing picking up rocks and dumping them into a truck. That pile used to be HUGE and it's already gone as of today! Parker liked to point out that the, "Boom Booms are WORKING! They're doing construction!"
A little more accurate view from our dining room window. They're at the end of the road, but not very far away. We can hear a low rumble when they dump rocks into the truck, and gigantic explosions when they blast (especially if we're in the basement). Good times!

"Map Looks Like!"

We have a Dora video called "Dora's Pirate Adventure" and when Map shows up he's wearing an eye patch. So for some reason, Parker has been doing this thing lately where he squints one eye closed and he says, "Map looks like....!" to tell us that's what Map looks like. I think it's hilarious and I'm probably not helping the situation by constantly asking, "Hey Parker, what does Map look like?" He might have permanent squint wrinkles by age 4.

Here's Pirate Map.
And here's Parker's version. Don't mind the cereal, peanut butter, and jam all over his face. We were eating lunch.

So, Um, New Posts!

Hey, it's 2010! When did that happen? A month ago, I guess! So here are some photos from new years' day! Parker needed a haircut.
It was a pretty quiet new year! April and I went to our neighbours' house for a surprise birthday/new years' party and a girl from down the street came over to watch the house while Parker slept. We forgot to mention that he might wake up and mumble something like, "Pee pee in the pottaaaaaaaaay!" but luckily she figured out what was going on. 2010 already! What's up with that?

And I think most people who read this blog already know, but April and I are expecting another baby this summer! So Fresh Baby Elliott is supposed to be ready around August 10th or so. Parker was a bit late, so maybe new baby will follow in his footsteps? Or maybe forge his/her own path and come early? We'll see. We had our first ultrasound and the baby has a head, 2 arms, and 2 legs! So far so good! We'll hopefully find out if it's a boy or girl at our next ultrasound in a few more weeks. I think it's a boy but April and Parker think it's a girl.
